Last month we joined in with the country’s biggest-ever, mass action campaign the #GBSpringClean 2019.

The Great British Spring Clean lasts one month and is organised every spring by Keep Britain Tidy. This yearly nationwide event creates an opportunity to get as many people involved as possible to keep Britain tidy. This year schools and the public were encouraged to run events all around the country in parks, streets, beaches and rivers.

Over the month of the #GBSpringClean 2019, we held 4 beach clean events, completed a total of 7.5 hours beach cleaning, were supported by 76 volunteers and in total saved 12 bags of microplastic and other waste, from our events 1/3 of the items found were recyclables.

And we have just received word from Keep Britain Tidy that the Great British Spring Clean 2019 – engaged 563,163 #LitterHeroes, more than surpassing our goal of getting half a million volunteers involved. Our impressive network of partners, MPs and Lords, local authorities, community groups, schools and individuals have managed to collect a whopping 957,377 bags of litter, which is about 239,344 wheelie bins worth. This means that #LitterHeroes have picked up 4,308 tonnes of rubbish that would otherwise remain on our streets, parks and waterways.

We are so happy to have been a part of the Great British Spring Clean and hope to see you on another clean soon!
