This year Glastonbury Festival is going to be a little bit different as they have decided to ban the selling of single-use plastic water bottles in a bid to cut waste. Previously in 2017, visitors to the festival got through 1.3m plastic bottles!

Also, Keep Britain Tidy has teamed up with the Orca Sound Project and Shangri-La Glastonbury to launch the project #RoadToGlasto2019. They have asked 100 #LitterHeroes to collect plastic on their beach cleans and litter picks in a huge bag over the next two weeks. The project will then collect these bags, shred the plastic and use it to build the Gas Tower stage at Glastonbury Festival this year.

We are delighted to have been able to secure a bag for our beach cleans and have already started to add to the bag. Keep an eye on our events page as there will be extra events added soon so you too can help provide plastic for the Glastonbury recycled plastic stage.

If you head to the beach or outside anywhere before 27th May and collect any hard plastic (straws, bottles, food trays, yoghurt pots) please do keep hold of it, send us a message so we can try to collect and it to our bag. Send us an email on plymouthbeachclean@gmail.com
